Dear Springtime,
I have a 7-year-old, 55-pound Labradoodle named Leia. Every August she gets terrible ragweed allergies, to the point where she takes two extra-strength Reactine, four Benadryl, plus cortisone shots and spray. She wears a cone all day, every day and wears a T-shirt to lessen the damage she does to herself by constant scratching. This dog would rub her eye sockets on the concrete patio to scratch herself until all the fur was gone and they were bleeding (hence the cone) from late August until the first frost! We have tried everything under the sun to help her, including changing her food multiple times, even trying kangaroo food. Three weeks ago, a coworker recommended your Fresh Factors for dogs. I was reluctant to order ... however, being at my wits' end and left with no further options, I decided to try it. I am happy to report that after 6 days on this product I took off her T-shirt. After 7 days, the cone went as well. After 2 weeks, I stopped giving her both the Benadryl and the Reactine and cancelled her cortisone shot. Her wounds have scabbed over. Leia is no longer chewing her paws raw, and she does not scratch herself to the point of bleeding. She no longer destroys her eyes on the concrete, and she has stopped panting constantly. I have no idea what this product does, or how it works, but it really works! I give her three chewables in the morning and three at night. The cost is much less than the drugs and vet visits costs I previously incurred (allergy pills alone were about $3/day). I never ever write reviews, but I am amazed. This product gave me back my dog! I would like to share with you my Springtime Bee Pollen for dogs story. I purchased this hoping it would mainly help my Dachshund, LuLu. I adopted LuLu when she was 10 years old, and I believe that the extra weight she carried (40 lbs) before she went into rescue and her age caused some problems. I am truly amazed at how your Bug Off Garlic Chewables have so quickly worked. My dog had fleas so bad. I tried a spot-on flea product on him and it seemed to attract more fleas. I went to the pet store and they gave me another brand, and that didn't work either. I put boric acid on the floor and that didn't work. I tried organic products that didn't work. We would spend hours picking the fleas off Freddie morning and night, only to do it over again the next day. I started searching the internet to see what was out there that was safe to use on Freddie and found your website. I had read that garlic wasn't good for dogs so before I ordered it I called my vet and asked him. He said it was okay to use. We started giving Freddie the Bug Off Garlic Chewables and I keep checking Freddie every morning for fleas and haven't found one. I just had to write you to thank you for your product.

I received my order yesterday, and when I was opening the box, my Akita, Kadan, was standing there trying to sniff inside. I took out a container each of Longevity and Bug Off Garlic Granules to read the labels, and Kadan would not stop licking the labels. I was amazed because I had been worried that he might not like it. I personally cannot stand the smell of garlic, but the rescue group I work with swears by these two products. Well, I gave him a sprinkle of each in his food as the directions say and he had no problem eating his meals. Amazing!

I wanted to let you know that this past Saturday morning, I sent an email to a weekly veterinary talk show (Animal General with Dr. Mike) that airs on KDKA AM radio out of Pittsburgh, PA…after I heard one person call in to talk about his young dog having to either have his hips replaced or be euthanized… I wrote to tell the host, Dr. Mike Hutchison about how your products, Fresh Factors and Joint Health Chewables had saved our AKC Lab pup, Tucker, from having to have both of his hips replaced at the tender age of one.
I explained to Dr. Hutchison that Tucker had been diagnosed with the worst case of hip problems that our vet and a canine orthopedic specialist had ever seen, especially in a young pup. Tucker was in such bad shape that he had stopped growing at six months of age. He could barely walk, and his back had arched up very high from the tremendous pain. … Tucker had to be kept on narcotic pain medication, so he was always in a drug-induced stupor and even then he could not walk or sit anywhere near normally… Surgery was the only thing that would help him. That was in March 2003, and we started him on your products in July of 2003 after receiving one of your brochures. I wrote how quickly Tucker responded to your supplements and how now, at three years old, he weighs 85 lbs and can run almost as fast as his brother…

She suggested I try Fresh Factors. They helped him immensely. Since then, whenever anyone says "hot spots," I say "Fresh Factors" and pass along your catalog or web address.

Aloha! Here are a few photos of my beloved soon to be 14 year old Great Dane (in April 2006). He would not be alive today if it weren't for Joint Health Chewables and Fresh Factors he's been getting for the last two years. He was barely able to get up when I, in desperation, started him on your supplements. I would have had to put him to sleep a long time ago if he hadn't improved as dramatically as he did. Within two weeks, he literally could jump in the back of the Yukon again! It was unbelievable. We have an eight year old Cocker Spaniel that has had two rear leg surgeries and used to limp most of the time. She'd be very careful not to play or be active because of pain, even while walking. I even had to give up walking her because she'd sit down and didn't want to move. After three weeks of a daily Fresh Factors broken up in some wet dog food, she started to improve. She now wants to play and romp around and even jump up onto the couch. Cocoa says thank you!

I just wanted to let you know that we love your product, Fresh Factors. Our nine year old dog, Bacchus, (best guess is that he is a dingo or a throw-back to one) was having a lot of obvious pain in his back legs. My Pekinese, Buster, was very lame and I started giving him Fresh Factors along with my German Shepherd, Maggie, who was three years old at the time. After a few weeks, Buster would beat me to the front door. Fresh Factors helped him through the last three years of his life. Buster had a stroke at the age of 16 and needed to be put down. Without even looking at the product description, I remembered I used to buy Fresh Factorsand decided to order them again. Just in the nick of time, as it seemed Cheyenne was nearing the end. Dixie is a nine month old Rough Collie. She came to live with us at six months, severely affected with demodex mites. Her face was swollen and oozing infection.
Our vet predicted Dixie would be on antibiotics for at least six months... To help her recovery along, we ordered your Fresh Factors, Bug Off Garlic Chewables, and Spirulina Wafers. We tripled her doses and began to see an almost immediate improvement. The mites were still there, but her swelling disappeared and the infection cleared. Our vet couldn't believe the improvement after two weeks.
We quickly ran out of the products. Even on high doses of antibiotics, Dixie's infection began to return. With her growing vet bills, I had put off re-ordering. I won't make that mistake again.
We might not be able to kill the mites, but with your products and a lot of TLC, Dixie lives a much better, more comfortable life. She's a wild child that loves to run and play with anything squeaky. Dixie is the life of the party.

I started with Fresh Factors eight years ago when my Siberian Husky, Fred, wouldn't get off of the low sofa. He was very stiff and had considerable muscle soreness. He was very glum and clearly uncomfortable, if not in pain. Radiographs revealed nothing. I put him on Fresh Factors and about two weeks later, he was his old self again…
Years later, I took Freddy off of Fresh Factors for a while. The hind end lameness returned. At the time, the vet put him on medication. Sadly, I had forgotten about Fresh Factors. After three months, I noticed blood in his stool, and without consulting the vet, immediately took Fred off of the medication. I remembered Fresh Factors and placed an order. Two weeks later, Fred was quite chipper again and back to his bouncy self. . .
Sadly, Fred, my Siberian passed over the Rainbow Bridge this past January at the age of 16 1⁄2. He had a long and happy life. But even as the end grew near, I ground up his Fresh Factors and mixed them in with his turkey baby food. We knew things were pretty bad though, when after more than eight years, he suddenly wasn't too keen on his daily Fresh Factors.

Popcorn, my Bichon Frise, age 10, was diagnosed with joint problems in her back left leg. She was limping and couldn't jump up on the furniture as she was used to doing. Our five year old Rottweiler-German Shepherd mix, Heidi, became very ill two years ago (vomiting which didn't stop until she was vomiting blood). She was diagnosed with inflammation of the pancreas, spent two days in the intensive care and another two days at the vets. It was difficult to feed her when she came home. Just a little too much dry food would set her off and she would vomit. Using your dog chart, we added Fresh Factors and Bug Off Garlic Granules to her diet. Now, she is able to eat dry food and even have an occasional bone.

She's had two hip surgeries and a spinal injury from a fall (due to her unstable hips). Through all of this she has been on a low dose of steroids. My vet said when she was still a puppy, that the steroids would shorten her life considerably due to organ damage. The results were worth the risks as this was the only therapy that helped her inflammation and pain and allowed her to have a happy, normal life. Your products simply blow me away! I live in central Florida (25 miles southwest of Ocala) and have Tennessee Walking horses. I have battled flies and mosquitoes with everything but nuclear waste from our power plant in Crystal River. By dumb luck I found out about Bug Off Garlic from a friend. Talk about battle of the bug, OMG, Springtime rules! I can actually saddle the horses without them doing an Irish step dance. The mosquitoes now find me a tastier treat than my equine partners.
Let's go on to my once itchy cattle dog. He was such a miserable little guy, constantly scratching and chewing his paws. I thought he had a neurotic thing going on for a while. I'm a cytotechnologist; I have the ability to swab and test on occasion. My little itchy guy had a lot of fungus going on. I began giving him Longevity and Greek yogurt and within a week he was cured. Watching the dog sleep an entire night undisturbed brought a tear to my eye, really.

I want to thank you for your wonderful products. For almost two years, my old girl, Cinnamon, and my young dog, Patches, have been on the Bug Off Garlic Granules and Longevity. What a difference in my old girl! At almost 14 she still wants to do agility.
…I had retired Cinnamon last year after we finally finished her two Novice Agility titles. She then informed me by jumping 26" jumps (her height was 20" and as a veteran is 16") that I had set up for Patches that she wanted to continue. So, I started showing her as USDAA agility trial (which allow mixed breeds). Out of four classes, we qualified and received two fourth place ribbons last year. I just took her for fun and she had a ball. If I had trained her at all, we probably could have qualified in the other two classes.
As long as she is happy and healthy, and is able to and wants to do agility I will continue to show her in a couple of classes. As with other dog folks, I enjoy showing my "fur kids" with who ever will look at them.

Buddy is our wonderful, six year old English Bulldog. He has always been full of life and ready to play. Recently, we noticed that Buddy had lost his spirit and no longer wanted to go for his daily rides. He didn't want to do much of anything anymore. He just lay on the couch and slept. He was in a lot of pain, especially when he tried to walk.
We took Buddy to visit his vet. The vet told us that Buddy had an Achilles tendon in his leg that was giving up. We already knew that he had severe arthritis. Buddy's vet raised the dosage of his arthritis medicine, put him on stomach medicine, and suggested that we get him a cart so he could get around better.
My husband and I were broken hearted. An illness that could be treated with medicine was one thing, but seeing our sweet baby be crippled and using a cart to get around was more than we could deal with.
We called my husband's 83 year old mother when we found out what condition Buddy was in. She has always had pets and loves them so much. We thought she might have some ideas that would help Buddy feel better. When I called her that day, her helper and friend, Toni, answered the phone. After sharing our dilemma with Toni, she told us that she had just received her Springtime, Inc. catalog and thought we might find help for Buddy by ordering it. Skillet is our six year old female American Pit Bull Terrier and Miles is our four year old male American Staff Pit Bull. From a Longevity Customer: Lost Dog in Tragic Accident, Wishes to Provide a Warning to Others.

I am a loyal customer and am amazed at the results of your product, Longevity. My 12 year old mixed-breed has made a drastic improvement since starting Longevity having had two cruciate ligament repairs and existing joint problems. He is able to jump and run like a much younger dog! Thank you for making such a wonderful product. I tell every dog owner I know about your amazing company. In addition to my testimonial, I was hoping you could, in some small way, help raise public awareness. My newest family addition was Zephyr, a canine hurricane survivor of Frances in 2004. Rescued by the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons and adopted to me, Zephyr was tragically killed in December by a body-gripping fur trap. This incident has been my personal "9/11." It was just unfathomable.
We had just started our walk through the Long Pond Greenbelt Nature Preserve and Zephyr ran to a pool of water for a drink. Suddenly, a piercing shot rang out followed by a short, sharp cry. I ran to Zephyr as he violently thrashed his head at the ground trying to paw off the contraption around his head. I screamed with all my might, but no one was around to hear my cries for help. I grabbed the trap and tried to figure out how to release it. The springs were too large and strong for my grip. There was no room between the steel bars and Zephyr's throat. I looked into his eyes and knew in an instant he would die. I continued to struggle as Zephyr's body went limp and rolled to the ground. I carried his body to the car and drove to the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, where an ARF worker and a police officer removed the trap from Zephyr's lifeless body. I stood over his body saying, "I couldn't save him…"
I am writing this in hope that you can, in some way, alert your customers to the reality of these deadly devices. The type of trap that killed Zephyr is virtually impossible to open unless you have special knowledge and a special tool! Companion animals are being killed in these traps far too often, especially to owners who accompany their animals to areas they believe safe like parks and nature preserves.
Springtime's loyal customers know the limitless love of our canine companions and our commitment to responsible stewardship. Being helpless and alone watching Zephyr strangle to death has devastated me.
I hope there is a way to send a message to your customers to know their state's trapping laws, to be sure which areas are trap-free. The information learned can be startling!

For some years, before I started to use Longevity they could no longer jump into the back or the front of my pickup or onto my bed to snuggle with me anymore. When I started to use your product on my boys, it wasn't very long before Britt was found in the back of the pickup all by himself! And then they were able to jump into the cab of my pickup with no problems and then onto my bed once again. It had been years since they could do that! Grendl is still able to leap up into the cab at age 13. My Cardigan Corgi, also the same age, doesn't limp near like he did.

We have two German Shepherds. Axel is a therapy dog and just all around good natured. Lexi came to us two years ago as a wreck. She was nervous and not social at all. A friend gave us some Longevity to try with our dogs. Axel has a beautiful coat, but just loves the taste. He won't touch his food now without it. Lexi would blow her coat for any reason; stress, weather, visitors, etc. It seemed she would never have the coat she should have with her breeding. She moved slowly, could not jump up on the furniture like her sister and niece, quit running, and had difficulty standing after sleeping. Her only relief was to sleep, which she did most of the time. She has mitral valve disorder, a common heart problem in Cavaliers; so starting her on prescription medication, with all its side effects, was out of the question.
I read about Longevity in your latest catalog and thought I would give it a try. After being on it for just two weeks, she is like a different dog. Her gait has quickened. She no longer groans and hesitates when she first awakens. She runs in the yard and up the stairs with the other two Cavaliers. She will even jump up on a chair at times. I had become concerned about how quickly Cookie, my eight year old Golden Retriever, was aging. She was very stiff and was moving around less and less. I received your catalog in the mail and after reading the "Real Letters," quickly ordered the Longevity and Joint Health Chewables. What a difference! A year later she has returned to her spry, happy self! I now give them to our other three dogs: Kiwi, the Schipperke, Rio, the Border Collie, and Halo, the wolf-hybrid. Everyone is happy and healthy! We make several trips a week to our local off-leash park (100 acres).
The reason I am writing is to tell you my most recent experience with Cookie. She had developed a lump on her hindquarters. This became enlarged and then opened up overnight into a bloody mess (with her help!). The next morning, upon examination, our vet informed me that it was some type of a tumor or mass… My option was a surgery at an estimate of $3,500.00! I left her at the vet for observation and went home to discuss this with my family.
We decided that we wouldn't put her through the trauma of such a difficult surgery, not to mention not being able to afford it. My son and I went back to say good-bye and have her euthanized. The vet tech brought her into the room so we could spend our last time together. Cookie came in happy with her whole hind end wagging in glee at seeing us. The tech closed the door and left us alone with her.
At this point, it becomes unbelievable! The mass fell out on the floor… We called for help and the tech and the vet ran in and looked so shocked. They bandaged her up and left her with us so they could regain their composure. They came back in and gave her a mild sedative so they could examine the area. Basically, this tumor had just fallen out of her body and they were able to put in a few stitches and we took her home! (Biopsy came back benign).
That was two weeks ago and she is all healed up and we are back at the dog park with all of her friends. Our vet calls her "their miracle Cookie!" She said she has never seen anything like this before and still can't explain it. I truly believe that your supplements have made her body and immune system so strong that she was able to completely reject the tumor and heal herself. (That and a lot of prayers!)

I've been giving my dogs Fresh Factors for about three years now with wonderful results. At the risk of admitting a rare moment of negligence as a dog owner, I must tell you how I discovered what a SAFE product it is.
A few months ago, I placed a new, unopened 60-count jar of Fresh Factors on a kitchen counter, thinking it was out of reach of my then four month old Cardigan Welsh Corgi puppy, Druid. While I napped one day, Dru managed to get hold of the jar and eat the entire 60 tablets! All I found was an empty jar and a chewed-up lid! He seemed none for the worse for it at the time, so I watched him closely for the next two days and to my astonishment (and delight)…no vomiting, no diarrhea, not even a loose stool. It was as if he hadn't consumed it at all. I was amazed.
While I wouldn't have chosen this particular method to "test" the safety of a product, it nonetheless proved to me that your products are not only effective, but SAFE. This is Chivas (red Golden Mix, 9 1/2 years old), who lives with my mother, and Champis (Golden Retriever, 13 years old) who lives with my good friend, Katarina. They live in Sweden, and I sent them Fresh Factors because I heard from someone that it would really help aging dogs.

The veterinarian at A&M University Hospital said they could operate again, but he would probably never walk again. I could put him on a cart or put him to sleep. I chose the cart. He also has allergies to leaf mold, etc. Until this year, he has had to have two cortisone treatments per year. Last spring I started him on Fresh Factors after checking with my vet who approved. He still has itchy times, but no need for cortisone. It is nice nowadays to find a product that does what it is supposed to do.

In this manner, we traversed over a dozen steps daily… To be able to climb up to the front seat of my car, I had to build a platform, and finally an elevator in my house to raise him 22 feet. A phone call to Michigan's number one breeder, Anna Irwin, brought the suggestion to get Fresh Factors and double or triple the dosage. So, over a six week period, I gave Bruno 12 tablets daily. Within six weeks, all of the symptoms were gone, and the St. Bernard was walking normally. Since then, all of my eleven St. Bernards receive their daily quota of Fresh Factors. My dog, now seven years old, had an injury as a puppy on his hip and at times he needs to take medication, especially in the cold months. But with the Joint Health Chewables, he doesn't need the medication as often which is great, due to side effects with the medication which affects the liver. My dog, (APBT) has been on your products for almost six years, Bug Off Garlic Chewables, Bug Off Garlic Chewables and Fresh Factors. My dog, now seven years old, had an injury as a puppy on his hip and at times he needs to take medication, especially in the cold months. But with the Joint Health Chewables, he doesn't need the medication as often which is great, due to side effects with the medication which affects the liver. I'd just like to thank you so much for this product. My nearly two year old yellow Lab lives in our backyard. A few months after he started living out back, we tried things like powdered lime and other methods to try and keep the fleas away. Well, of course, he was allergic to the lime (I think it burned him) and the other flea ridding products didn't work. So, I did some research because I was too scared to try chemical flea treatments after hearing all the horror stories that those poor dogs went through, putting poison directly on their skin, unknowingly like we did with the lime.

I had another dog that suffered for a lifetime with this condition, and no vet could help. My current mixed-breed Schnauzer, Doobie, suffered from the same. After getting on the garlic regimen, his skin cleared, and the condition did not return. Have you had other customers comment on this?

I would like to thank you for such great products! Attached is a picture of my two rescue Australian Shepherds, Sam and Shelby. Both dogs were in very poor condition when I got them. They had dry, itchy skin, thin, harsh coats and both were malnourished. Sam suffered from chronic ear infections, and Shelby's eyes were inflamed and always leaking yellow gunk. These are my two boys, two year old Coal, the one with the red collar, and five year old Scout, the one with the blue collar. I have used Springtime for years and am always totally excited to see how it affects each pet I have used it on, whether it be dogs or horses. Coal is a growing boy and I have had him since he was a Christmas gift when he was five weeks old. I tell folks that I was a naughty girl and got a lump of COAL in my sock, but it was the best lump of COAL ever! He has been on Fresh Factors and Joint Health Chewables from the start and is doing absolutely wonderful. Being a growing boy, I know he really needs these two products.
Scout is a totally amazing story! I rescued him last September from a growing family that didn't want him anymore. I have to say that he wasn't one of those horror stories of abuse, but he does have a story.
I saw his picture up on the bulletin board at our veterinarian's. It just said, "Must find a new home due to a growing family and no time for Scout." After deciding that Coal needed a friend and I could handle four more muddy paws and another dog that sheds I went to check him out. He was tied out front of the house on a chain playing with a tennis ball all by himself. The family was totally ignoring him and it broke my heart. He had such a sweet face and great personality, so into the truck he went, off to his new home.
I could immediately tell that he was having problems with his back end because he couldn't walk straight or go up stairs without whining. He couldn't play ball for more than a few minutes and I could tell he wanted to keep up with Coal, but he hurt so bad.
The first thing was to get him into an AVCA certified animal chiropractor. Scout had some major issues that are finally getting worked out after seeing Dr. Shanie every two to three weeks. I also started him on Fresh Factors and Joint Health Chewables. It has been five months now and WOW! Scout is a totally different dog. He hates to have to come in from playing ball, swimming or following me when I ride my horse, or when he is playing tag with Coal, or after a snow fall, playing in the drifts! He is so excited when I say we are going out or for a run. It is as though he just can't seem to get enough of fun without pain! Then we decided to try Joint Health Chewables and Fresh Factors for Shyla. On February 9, 2009 I sent an order to Springtime to purchase Longevity for my 12 year old Golden Retriever, Duncan. She is an active therapy dog and has been working since 1998, but I noticed she was sleeping more and more. Now instead of being down for the count at 8 p.m. she has a nap, and then is up and chasing the laser pen beam for a while at 11 p.m. I admit sometimes I want to grump but she is happy and moving freely even with joint issues in a hind foot, so we play for a while and then go to bed. My dogs have not shown any reluctance to eat the product on their kibble.

Axel is on your website comment page with his picture on the beach and Lexi actually had the red in her come out wonderfully after a few months on Longevity. Longevity was the first product purchased with retired dogs in mind but was soon added to the menu for everyone including bitches in whelp and even added to the initial weaning diet of four week old pups. Once they are on it, they stay on it for life.
Longevity certainly produces all the desired results and more as indicated on your website. Without exception, all of my dogs, 14 in total, love the taste. What was not mentioned on your site is the fact that my dogs teeth, even the 14 year old (whose teeth have never been cleaned), are now amazingly free of plaque after eating Longevity. I know this is due to using your product alone as no other variable was introduced to their feeding schedule during the time frame. I attribute this unmentioned bonus of "cleaner teeth" to the key live food factors found in Longevity.

Winnie is a rescue pug that I got in September of 2007. She was found wandering the streets and was completely emaciated, dirty with skin and ear infections, overgrown toenails, and was unsprayed with a major hernia. The shelter that had her guessed her age to be about 12, and tried to talk us out of taking her, I saw a diamond in the rough and took her home.
When we got her home I noticed something "off" with her walking. She underwent surgery in May of 2008, having a femoral head osteotomy. Basically they cut off part of her leg bone. She was put on two different pain meds and even though it has been awhile, I have never been completely happy with her recovery. The vets have said she will never be normal and since she is elderly, we just should manage her pain.
Recently, on a trip to the emergency vet for severe gastric problems and a possible seizure, it was determined that not only does Winnie have degrading cartilage in her "good" hip, she has disc disease throughout the spine, from her neck to her tail as well as problems in both shoulders. I went out on a limb and ordered it and received it a week ago. I was so worried it would cause her stomach problems, she is so sensitive!
We followed your instructions with just a little sprinkle for a few days and now she is up to half a scoop twice a day. Now, it has only been a week, but I wanted you to know that I will NEVER be without this product for her. She had no gastric troubles at all. But the difference in her is amazing!
First, she has had a good coat because she is on a premium diet. But all of a sudden, she developed almost long "pants" on her rear legs! She is using both legs equally now, where as she favored one over the other before. I just spent a half hour playing tug of war with her! Tug of war with a dog that is supposed to be crippled! She is insisting on going for walks again! She is beating up my male puggle and actually growling during play! She finished up playing, panting! Panting! She was playing hard enough to work up a sweat!
It's obvious to me that she is feeling great. She isn't supposed to jump on the furniture, but I can't hold this dog back! She is running and jumping and playing and it's like this dog is five years old. If this is what happens after only a week, I can't wait to see her in a month.
I wanted you to know this because I was feeling really low after her last diagnosis. I was so afraid she was in pain and that we would lose her. She still continues to take a pain reliever, but that's ok. We may be able to wean her down in her dosage if she keeps feeling this good.

Winnie is a rescue pug that I got in September of 2007. She was found wandering the streets and was completely emaciated, dirty with skin and ear infections, overgrown toenails, and was unsprayed with a major hernia. The shelter that had her guessed her age to be about 12, and tried to talk us out of taking her, I saw a diamond in the rough and took her home.
When we got her home I noticed something "off" with her walking. She underwent surgery in May of 2008, having a femoral head osteotomy. Basically they cut off part of her leg bone. She was put on two different pain meds and even though it has been awhile, I have never been completely happy with her recovery. The vets have said she will never be normal and since she is elderly, we just should manage her pain.
Recently, on a trip to the emergency vet for severe gastric problems and a possible seizure, it was determined that not only does Winnie have degrading cartilage in her "good" hip, she has disc disease throughout the spine, from her neck to her tail as well as problems in both shoulders. At her age I did not want to put her through surgery so I looked for alternative treatments to make her comfortable and able to get around. Also, I noticed that her hips were getting stiff and she was just starting to act like an old dog - seemed reasonable to me as she was nearing the high end of her expected life span. We have three dogs. This is our Irish setter, Copper, who is a legendary tick magnet. We have used two or three different brands of repellent over the years. None of them kept the ticks off. We tried Bug Off Garlic Chewables and "Voila!" the ticks are gone! They don't even get on for a ride into the house. We have quit using the expensive repellents entirely. Bug Off Garlic Chewables is a great product, and being a Connecticut resident I would recommend it to anyone with animals.
