Luckily, we tried Springtime's Diatomaceous Earth. Within a week of sprinkling the DE in and around our trash cans, all of the flies and their larvae were gone! Since Springtime's Diatomaceous Earth is food grade, I felt secure knowing my cats would be safe if they accidentally ingested some.
