Product Summary

The most widely used word to describe spirulina (spy-ruh-lee-nuh) is "superfood." Here's why – spirulina contains a higher percentage of protein than meat, the highest whole food source of vitamin B12, more iron than beef liver, 25 times more beta carotene than carrots, more chlorophyll than alfalfa or wheat grass, and three times more omega 6 than evening primrose oil.

Suggested Use: For energy and weight loss, we recommend
6 tablets ½ an hour before each meal. Spirulina Tablets
are not diet pills, but a highly concentrated food that satisfies
the appetite and encourages smaller amounts of food. As a nutritional
supplement, take 6 or more tablets daily.

Hawaiian Raw Spirulina

Springtime uses Cyanotech's raw Hawaiian Spirulina (Spirulina Pacifica) in Spirulina Tablets for People.

From Cyanotech:
Spirulina is a microscopic blue-green vegetable algae that has been used as a significant food source for centuries: the most well-known examples are the Aztecs of Central America and the Kanembu of Lake Chad. In both of these cultures, the superior protein of Spirulina made it an important part of their diet and a very valuable commodity.

Scientifically Unique
Spirulina Pacifica is a select strain of Spirulina platensis developed over many years of continuous cultivation in Hawaii. Strain development and perfection started in 1984. Our cultures in Hawaii represent the oldest continuously cultivated and harvested Spirulina in the world. Hawaii's year-round growing conditions and our integrated culture management system have made this possible. Spirulina Pacifica has been extensively analyzed by molecular biologists at the University of Hawaii who identified unique enzymes not previously found in other strains of Spirulina platensis.

Safe and Reliable
Spirulina is a blue-green algae, but should not be confused with so-called wild blue-green algae harvested from uncontrolled lake conditions. The Spirulina that has been consumed as a nutritious food for centuries is a completely different genus and species than the ordinary lake algae. Modern culture systems are strictly controlled, assuring 100% purity of the strain for a safe and reliable supply.

Spirulina Pacifica is a highly absorbable source of protein, mixed carotenoids and other phytonutrients, B-Vitamins, GLA and essential amino acids. It is ideal for those preferring a whole food supplement over artificial nutrient sources and is offered in powder, flakes and tablets. The concentrated nutritional profile of Spirulina occurs naturally and, because it is a whole food, it is safe to eat-even in large quantities.

Of all the algae, Spirulina Pacifica has emerged as an especially potent and healthy food source for humans. In fact, Spirulina Pacifica is conceivably the most concentrated and nutritious whole food known.

Pristine Conditions
Clean water is crucial for culturing pure Spirulina. Because Spirulina is aquatic, the purity of the water directly affects the quality of the final product. Cyanotech's water comes from deep wells drilled up in the rainforest of Hualalai, our local volcano. Our water starts as rain falling on a pristine rainforest far from human activity. It percolates through 500 meters of porous lava and then is captured by wells drilled to that depth. The water is tested for purity by the Hawaiian government. This compares to our competitors' Spirulina farms, which all use river water or irrigation water.

We supplement our pure fresh water with Deep Sea Ocean water drawn from a 600 meter ocean offshore well. This water, which scientists estimate hasn't seen light for over 2000 years, is full of trace minerals and elements—94 to be exact. The trace minerals and elements are another important difference between Cyanotech's Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica and other brands.

"...we have not had any cold or viruses."

Dear Springtime,

What another great product. Since my husband and I have been taking Spirulina Tablets, we have not had any colds or viruses. I volunteer at a nursing home with my dog, Jacob. During cold and flu season, when every resident is ill, my immune system seems to be at its peak. I attribute this to your product, Spirulina Tablets. I used to come down with four to six colds every year along with two virus attacks, now I have none! Since it has worked so well for my husband and myself, I now feed Spirulina Tablets, to my four dogs. Keep up the great products.

Sincerely,
Cindy Mack-Kish, Ohio
